Sugar and sweet alternatives

Image
Sugar....the bad stuff.....we all know how bad sugar is or can be.  We all have tried to cut it out or cut it down.  Many studies have shown that sugar has been linked to diabetes, obesity and in some cases abnormal brain functions.  One of the worst things I've read is that it can addictive.  So that's why it's so hard to cut it down and even harder to cut it out. You'll crave it less with the less you eat it, but just like any addiction, if you just try to completely cut it off without going slow, you might even go through withdrawals.  Yes, believe it or not, you'll go through withdrawals.  The question is, what can you, me, anyone eat to satisfy that craving for sugar without damaging or setting back any efforts made to cut out or cut down? The best advice that I can give are a few alternative foods that I read about and that are naturally sweet, that could help with that situation. 1.  Coconut oil:  Even though it is full of saturated fat, it is a natural wa

High Intensity Training (HIT) or Heavy lifting

Image
It is not unusual to find individuals who are always debating strength training vs. high intensity training.  It is always a thought, which style is best and how to use each. I would have to say that no matter which one you prefer it's all about which one you are more comfortable with, the one that you prefer or the purpose. I've tried both, if your preference is to have a brief and intense workout then the HIT us for you.  If your preference is to workout while taking your time then the normal strength training is for you. Combining both is the best way to go, most people combine the technical aspects of strength training with the high intensity training and that makes for a perfect way to not only burn fat at a higher rate but also to get shredded and show gains. At the end of the day it is about preference, what your comfortable with and what it is that you are trying to achieve.

It's ok to workout fasted (on an empty stomach)

Image
So you think that you really need food to get you through a workout? According to some articles, the thought of loading up on carbohydrates has been called into question. It is true that having carbs before a workout is good and it might even increase performance but what I have read lately it also says that it stops the body from using that stored fat for the needed energy. Fasted is the optimal state to workout because during that time the body releases insulin to lower the blood sugar, proteins and fats that are absorbed by our digestive system so that the glucose can be transported to muscles and be used for energy. So now that you know....what are you going to do? It is ok to workout fasted or if you prefer to have your normal intake of pre-work out or protein before the workout....now you know it is ok.

The Push-up

Image
The push-up is one the basic exercises that you can do either at the gym or at home.  No weight s are required since one is essentially "pushing" or in some instances "pulling" one's body weight. It is important that push-ups are done correctly in order to not only be effective but also worthwhile. If done incorrectly there will not be any gains and at the end it will frustrate you. There are many variations of the push-up; there is the regular push-up, the close hand push-up or "diamond push-up", there is the elevated push-up, etc. pick one and just go with it.

Sought after horseshoe-shaped triceps

Image
By:  Jose Aviles The way to a perfect horseshoe-shaped triceps just about have to go through the gym or weight room with the necessary exercises.   Whether it is a press down, skull-crushers, dips and all of those exercises that you know about.   But in reality it doesn’t have to be just that, because all that’s needed to just shock those triceps is just your own bodyweight, a bench or something that can support your weight. At the end of the day, it is the hard work and dedication that’s put into the gym that makes that sought after horseshoe-shape triceps that tells the world “I’ve been working out” Go on, find a gym and give it a shot….It will not be easy but it will be worthy.
